FAQS

+ Does private health insurance or medicare cover for consultations?

Private health rebates may be available through your private health insurer, in most circumstances your insurer will cover a portion of the cost of the consultation based on your level of cover.

If you are looking at online consultations you will need to check with your individual provider as many health insurance providers only cover for face:face consultations not online consultations. Medicare EPC plans for dietitian consultations are not available for online consultations.

At Sydney Pelvic Clinic in Bondi Junction we have HICAPS available for on the spot claiming and accept Medicare EPC referrals from your GP.

+ How many consultations will I require?

The number of consultations you will need is based on your individual situation, the severity of your condition or level of support you require. Marika works with her clients on an ongoing basis as nutrition and habit change doesn’t happen overnight, she provides you with the support you require to make lasting change. Clients will typically see Marika anywhere between 3-10 times.

+ What happens during the initial consultation?

Marika will ask you plenty of questions to get to know you and to best understand your situation, symptoms or concerns. After getting a full picture of your current health, diet and lifestyle Marika will work with you to set some specific and individualised goals to work on before your next consultation. You will receive any additional educational materials required along the way. You will have plenty of time to ask questions too.

+ Do I get a meal plan with my consultation?

Your consultation does not come with a meal plan included, however it may be one of the strategies we use in your situation. Each person is different and a meal plan isn’t always the best option for everyone. Why doesn’t everyone get a meal plan? Marika’s approach is to empower and educate you to make healthy choices that suit YOUR lifestyles, your taste preferences and your schedule. A meal plan that isn’t created by you is only a short term solution and Marika is about creating long term habits and solutions. Rather, Marika will educate you on how to make healthy choices, prepare healthy meals, and understand what you need to do to achieve your goals.
