Blueberry Smoothie

I am a sucker for a good smoothie in the morning. Even on cold winter mornings, I am willing to sit in front of the heater in order to simply enjoy my smoothie without a bit of frostbite. This smoothie recipe is one that I created for OPSM and is packed full of ingredients and nutrients that obviously make the smoothie taste delicious but also contribute to healthy vision too. The blueberries are packed with antioxidants, which can be beneficial in maintaining good eye health, while leafy greens like spinach are loaded with carotenoids and essential vitamins that are important in good eye health and macula. Even the humble yoghurt is rich in zinc, which helps our eyes produce melanin.

Recipe 1: Blueberry Smoothie

Serves 1

1 cup frozen blueberries

1 handful baby spinach

1 tbsp ground flax / flax meal 

1/4 cup greek yoghurt

Pinch of cinnamon

3/4 cup milk of choice

Ice

1. Add all ingredients to a high powered blender and blend until smooth.
